Μονοπάτια στην Φολέγανδρο

Folegandros trekking, folegandros walking through

Ano Meria (Agios Andreas) - Agios Sostis - Agios Georgios and back

This is a really beautiful hike, through one of the nicest parts of Folegandros. The trail is magnificent and the beach is very pleasant. The hike deserves an evaluation of ***.(more)

Ano Meria (Elpida) - Serfiotiko - Ano Meria (Agios Andreas)

This is a short hike, back and forth, descending to the pretty little beach of Serfiotiko. It gets an evaluation of **. (more)

Ano Meria (Kyparisaki) - Syllaka - Ano Meria (Stavros)

This short hike, back and forth to Syllaka, has in fact no real objective, because when you get down there is neither a beach nor a possibility to have a swim. However, the trail up and down is really worthwhile and the trip can be a supplement to the hike from Chóra to Ano Meriá. You can have a picnic at Syllaka and the hike gets an evaluation of *. Ano Meria - Livadaki - Angali - Chora

this is the longest and probably also the most beautiful hike you can make on the island of Folegandros. You walk on a couple of marvellous monopátia and along the way you can swim on the beaches of Livadaki and Angali. Obviously, this hike deserves an evaluation of ***. (more)

Ano Meria (Stavros) - Agios Georgios - Agia Paraskevi - Stavros - Chora

There are several ways to return from Ano Meria to Chora on foot: besides the long hike via Livadaki and Angali, there is also the shorter hike from Stavros, which is described here. This hike is really useful if you have taken the bus to Ano Meria in the morning and if you have then descended to one of the beaches, afterwards you can return to Chora on foot, leaving from Stavros. The trails are marvellous and this trip thus gets an evaluation of ***. (more)

Chora - Deftera Parousia - Agios Nikolaos and back

This short hike goes through a very dry landscape and it brings you to the neglected little church of Agios Nikolaos. It might be an interesting hike for those of you who are looking for an alternative route to Petousis – you can then continue to Livadi and Katergo. It gets an evaluation of *. (more)

Chora - Angali - Chora

this is a pleasant and not too long hike, leading you to the beaches of Fyra, Angali and maybe Agios Nikolaos as well. There are a couple of possible variants, in case you would like to, for example, take the most direct way to only the beach of Angali. This hike deserves an evaluation of **. (more)

Chora - Angali - Agios Nikolaos - Ano Meria

This hike is fairly short and it brings you to the beaches of Fyra, Angali and Agios Nikolaos - this is a variant of the hike to Angali (see the hike Chora - Angali -Chora). The hike ends in Ano Meria (Stavros) from where you can take the bus to return. This hike gets an evaluation of **.(more)

Chora - Petousis - Livadi - Loustria - Karavostasis

This hike leads through the arid south-eastern part of Folegandros. The donkey trail between Chora and Petousis, which is still described by Marc Dubin in his ‘Trekking in Greece’, has been replaced by a concrete and gravel road already many years ago. This means that only the part Petousis - Livadi is actually a pleasant trail. The beach of Livadi in the bay of Loustria is not unpleasant, but fairly exposed to the northerly wind. This hike gets an evaluation of *. (more)

Chora - Stavros - Agia Paraskeví - Agios Georgios - Agios Nikolaos and back

This hike describes the shortest route to the beautiful beach of Agios Nikolaos. Since this beach can only be reached on foot, it is usually more peaceful over there than on the popular beach of Angali... This hike gets an evaluation of **. (more)

Chora - Stavros - Agia Paraskevi - Agios Georgios - Ano Meria (Stavros)

This hike describes one of the ways to walk from Chora to Ano Meria. It follows some magnificent trails and it provides great panoramic views on the bays of Angali and Agios Nikolaos. If you would rather not end up far into the elongated village of Ano Meria, we refer to the variant Chora - Agios Georgios - Ano Meria (Theologos). This hike deserves an evaluation of ***. (more)

Chora - Stavros - Agia Paraskevi - Agios Georgios - Ano Meria (Theologos)

This hike describes one of the ways to walk from Chora to Ano Meria. It follows some magnificent trails and it provides great panoramic views on the bays of Angali and Agios Nikolaos. If you would like to end up further into the elongated town of Ano Meria, we refer to the variant Chora - Agios Georgios - Ano Meria (Stavros). This hike gets an evaluation of **.(more)

In and around Chora

This is not really a hike, but rather a short introduction to Chora and its surroundings. You walk up to the Panagia-church, where you have a marvellous view, you then walk through the kastro and over the pleasant little squares of Chora, and for a short while you discover the trails to the north-west of the town – after this introduction you are ready to go ahead with the other hikes on this island. Obviously this hike gets an evaluation of ***.(more)
